Privacy Policy

Cairn ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal trail log for hikers and cyclists. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

• Account information. When you sign in, we store your email address via Supabase Auth to identify your account.
• Outing data. Trail logs you create — including distance, duration, elevation, notes, activity type, GPS routes from uploaded GPX files, and photos — are stored in your private account.
• Health & fitness data. If you choose to import workouts from Apple Health, we read workout metadata and GPS routes from HealthKit solely to populate your trail log. This data is not shared with any third party and is not used for advertising.
• Photos. Photos you attach to outings are stored in a private cloud bucket accessible only to your account.

What we don't collect

• We do not collect location data in the background.
• We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
• We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
• We do not collect analytics or behavioral tracking data.

How we store your data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted database and authentication platform. Row-level security policies ensure your data is only accessible to your account. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage with private bucket policies.

Apple Health

Cairn requests read access to your Apple Health workouts and routes only when you initiate an import. We do not write to Health, and we do not transmit Health data to any third party. Health data is used solely to create entries in your trail log within the app.

Data deletion

You can delete any outing and its associated photos from within the app. To request full account and data deletion, email us at blakewoodward12@gmail.com and we will delete your account within 30 days.

Children

Cairn is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
